On Wednesday 1st March 2017 was when some of the year 9's walked to the Omaru creek right next to the G.I pools and was conbined with other schools(Point england,Glen Taylor,Te Kura and Some Students from university).During this Event there were Skits that we happening and people from the Tamaki Community talking about the Omaru Creek and saying that they didn't want to see the Omaru Creek polluted, dirty and with a lot of rubbish. There was this one man named Tamati Patuwai who introuced himself and told everyone of us that he was born and raised on Fenchurch Street(Glen Innes) and saying this sentences in Maori that meant a lot Ko au te Awa,Ko te Awa ko au (I am the river and the river is me). Then we got to listen to some Ladies (forgot their Names) and they were explaining how they took a water sample from the Creek and tested it which we saw but she had 2 tubes which one was filled with clean water and the other one was the Creek Water. When she should us both of the tubes she asked us a question,(Do want your creek to be clean or leave as the way it is now?)we all agreed to make our creek clean. After there was a Performance from this wonderful group of 2 girls and a Man which their performances was based on the Creek which one of the girls explained "she is crying........she's calling for help" which was really intresting and exciting to see more performances. The river talk that we had was such an amazing day even though it was a bit hot and some of us got in trouble we still got some more information in our heads about what happened at the river talk.
Here are some pictures from the River Talk:
